UPTAC Counselling eligibility criteria for B.Tech

To be eligible for B.Tech admissions in UPTAC 2026 candidates have to be 12th class passed or its equivalent degree from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate score of 45% marks in relevant subjects. SC/ST category students have to get a minimum of 40% marks. 

For the 1st year B.Tech course the entrance examination considered is JEE Main 2026. In the Special Round, CUET UG 2026 is also accepted. Candidates from the D.Voc. stream in the same or allied sector are also eligible. 

There is no age limit for B.Tech admissions under UPTAC 2026. Regarding domicile, candidates who studied Class 12 from an institution in UP are directly eligible for all rounds. Candidates who studied outside UP must have a parent (father or mother), who is domicile of UP, and must produce the parental domicile certificate at the time of document verification. 

Candidates from outside UP with non-UP domicile parents are eligible only for the Special Round. For lateral entry to second year B.Tech, Diploma holders must have passed with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) from a BTEUP-recognised institution. B.Sc. graduates with 45% marks and Mathematics at Class 12 level are also eligible for lateral entry but are considered only after Diploma seats are filled. 

Lateral entry seats are limited to 10% of the previous year’s sanctioned intake. Candidates whose qualifying exam results are not declared before the registration deadline are not eligible for UPTAC 2026 counselling under any circumstances.
