UPTAC Counselling starts every year in May, shortly after JEE Main Session 2 results are declared by NTA. For 2026, UPTAC Counselling started on 25 May 2026, with registration opening on the official portal https://uptac.samarth.edu.in. The official schedule was released just two days earlier on 23 May 2026 through a formal AKTU notice.
The May start is consistent with the pattern from previous years. The exact date each year depends on when JEE Main results are declared and when AKTU completes the seat matrix compilation from affiliated colleges and finalises the counselling schedule through the Central Admission Board (CAB).
In 2026, two major changes accompanied the counselling start: the shift to a new portal (https://uptac.samarth.edu.in replacing uptac.admissions.nic.in) and the introduction of mandatory APAAR ID verification during registration. Candidates must verify or create their APAAR ID through DigiLocker before completing any registration step. JEE Main data is now auto-fetched by the portal using the Application Number.
From May 25th, the counselling process will span over 3 rounds of normal rounds, internal sliding, a special round, a second special round. Special Round 2 physical reporting will occur on August 3rd 2026. Applicants for the 2026 admission session are advised to gather all necessary documents like their JEE Main scorecard, APAAR ID and any other supporting documents before May so as to initiate their registration on the first day without any hassle.
