UPTAC Counselling 2026 started on 25 May 2026, when AKTU officially opened the B.Tech registration window on the new portal https://uptac.samarth.edu.in. This was announced through an official notice dated 23 May 2026, issued by the Deputy Registrar, AKTU, Lucknow.
The start was in line with the timeline followed in previous years, May registration opening after JEE Main Session 2 results. Registration ran from 25 May to 15 June 2026. UPTAC 2026 is distinguished by two major changes in their procedure: 1. The change of portal to https://uptac.samarth.edu.in and 2. A requirement to complete an APAAR ID verification to register. As far as counselling is concerned, it started on the 25th of May 2026, continuing until the 3rd of August 2026 (completing 4 rounds, 2 rounds of sliding, 2 rounds of special and final round).
The counseling process went on till October 2026 for 3 rounds of seat allotment and it is advised to get the documents and category certificates ready along with a sorted college list as you should complete registration immediately on day 1 to avoid losing out on a seat.
